A Visionary Womanhood Gathering Testimony in California!

The following is a testimony from Terese, of Sacramento, CA.  She hosted her first Visionary Womanhood Gathering on Thursday, January 19, 2012.

Our Gathering

It was a blessing to host this gathering. We are following the Year One CD and DVD line up by starting with How to Think Like a Christian, by Doug Phillips. My husband made a video presentation of it.  It was encouraging, and the ladies enjoyed it.

Six women came last night, so all together there were nine women including myself and my two daughters.  Each of them were encouraged and want to come again.  One dear lady said she was planning to get the CD, How to Think Like a Christian , but kept changing her mind, and she said that she knew it was God who wanted her to hear this message.  My daughters have been inspired to start a gathering for younger ladies ages 11-15 on Lies that Young Women Believe.  My husband will be hosting something similar for the men, using some of the same materials.

My Testimony

I’m a wife and mother who is transforming and renewing my mind to bring God glory. I told the group my story of why I wanted to host this gathering. I was a high school drop out. I had three children while I was under the age of 18, and I was encouraged to abort the first child at age 14.

I was a typical “African American” woman who wanted to make a name for myself and let the world know, “I’m somebody”.  I went to vocational school and studied to be an Executive Secretary.  I worked for the State California, took business trips, and lived like I had it all together.

Then the Lord called me. He began molding my heart to want to please Him, so I would study the Bible with a lady on my lunch breaks. At that time our church would give the new Christians a booklet to read and grow in the Lord. So I began reading it. I came to the part on “Vocations for Men and Women”. I read about my husband’s vocation and found he was doing what God told him to do.

Then I read about vocations for women, and I found out I wasn’t following God’s plan for women. Thus, we began a process of allowing me to do what I’m called to do. Unknowingly, we moved to the worst part of Sacramento, so I could come home. With enthusiasm, I began fulfilling my duties as a wife by reading and talking with other women who delighted in their role. I learned about homeschooling and began teaching my daughters at home so they can have a Godly education.

Our Family and Ministry

My two daughters are 22 and 19 and are joyfully filling their duties as daughters under their father’s protection. Now that I’m done with their “formal” years of schooling, our family is embarking upon developing a family ministry called Accord Family Ministry. We started this ministry as a result of seeing so many families suffering through dysfunction.

Our desire is to go back to the ancient paths, to encourage families to fulfill their duty from God, to live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed (Titus 2:12-13 NLT).

“Accord Family Ministry” is divided into 4 sub ministries: “Oneness” for Husbands and Wives; “Cross Training” based on Titus 2:1-2 ,6-8, for Fathers and Sons; “Ezer Institute” based on Titus 2:3-5 for mothers and older daughters 16 and up; and “Radiant Girl” for younger daughters 10-15.

EZER INSTITUTE’s blog (http://ezer-institute2.blogspot.com/) describes more about that sub ministry, and the rest of the sub ministries blogs are still under construction but plan to be available soon.

I wanted to say to you, when the Lord placed this on your heart, you probably didn’t realize whom He would use to host a gathering. Thank you so much for taking a stand on the Word of God. I’m so excited and blessed to have God’s message proclaimed to all generations.

Handmaiden of the Lord,

Terese

I pray God will use your life to give hope to many who are now taking refuge in despair or self-pity or stuff or fantasy or the many other places that are only an illusion of safely.
