Which is More Christian? Rags or Riches?

Filed in Resources, Women & Work by on April 24, 2014 0 Comments

concept of rich and poor in a shoes

This is one of those pendulum issues, isn’t it? I mean, some folks preach that if you’re really on God’s good side, you’ll be healthy and wealthy. Blessings just a-pourin’ down all over your head. If you get sick or poor – just have someone lay their hands on your head and WHAMMO! You’ll be better. Never mind that you ARE guaranteed to find yourself six feet under within the next 100 years regardless of how many hands get laid on your head.

And other folks will say that if you’re truly a spiritual giant, you’ll give everything away and live the life of a monk. Money is evil, so earn just the bare minimum. If you happen to earn any more – give it away. And be sure to ask everyone you know – “What’s too much?” Because everyone will have an opinion, and you’ll need to figure this out so you can make them happy. When you make people happy – God is happy. Right?

I’d like to propose that God’s got it all figured out, and it’s gonna look real different for each person. Some will be dirt poor missionaries in Africa. Some will be highfalutin’ film makers in Hollywood. Some will be middle class suburbanites in Colorado. Some will be scrapin’ a living on a farm in Iowa.

And you know what? If they are seeking the face of God and walking in His ways, they are just where He wants them to be.

I’ve always wanted to be entrepreneur. I’m not even really sure why. For the fun of it, I think. I’ve dabbled in business off and on over the years, but I really got my feet wet five years ago when I decided to open up an online soap business selling shampoo bars. It ended up being a huge success. You can read my Ten Tips for WAHM Wannabes over on the Keeper of the Home blog.

One of the resources that really caught my eye in this year’s Homemaking Bundle (on sale April 23-28 only) was Christian Wealth Building: A Candid Look at Rich Church, Poor Church by Michael Pink and John Muratori. This is an mp3 download and eBook that retails for $77. Let’s see. The Homemaking Bundle is only $29.97. That means this resource alone is worth over twice the cost of the bundle.

(By the way, if you buy this bundle through MY LINK and then contact me with your invoice ID number, I’ll immediately send you a $10 store credit code to my own business, Apple Valley Natural Soap. This is how I support this blog without any advertising, and I’m just giving you back part of what I make off your sale.)

From Pink’s website:

This is Not About Giving to Get – It’s About Tapping Into Biblical Laws for Wealth Creation

The 6-hour teleseminar takes you deep into the Biblical foundation and motivation for obtaining wealth and frees you from the causes of poverty unlike anything I have ever heard. This is not another sermon on how you can become rich if you just send your money to some questionable TV ministry. It is not another discussion on the topic of tithing. That’s a given. This goes into what to do with the other 90% and how to make the most out of limited resources.

It Would Cost THOUSANDS for a Day with These Men

John Muratori and Michael Pink are paid thousands of dollars just to speak for an hour to business leaders and even more for consulting. But now you can get 6 hours of audio coaching in this seminar for only $97 on CD and $77 on MP3. That’s a remarkably small investment for what you will receive in return.

John Louis Muratori is a sought after speaker with a unique message that crosses denominational and cultural barriers. He is a recognized authority in organizational management and strategic planning, advising numerous agencies including the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Mental Health. John has consulted many national ministries and mentors CEO’s, millionaires, and ministers across the nation. John is the founder and president of multiple companies and non-profit corporations. John is the Sr. Pastor of Calvary Life Family Worship Center in Cheshire, CT. He is also the Executive Director of Turning Point Christian Center, a nationally acclaimed faith-based substance abuse rehabilitation program. John has authored several books, including Seven Women Shall Take Hold of One Man and Rich Church Poor Church. He resides with his wife Carmela and two boys in Connecticut.

I’m looking forward to digging into this one over the summer while the kiddos are running in the sun.
