I Am My Sister’s Keeper

Do you have the gift of mercy?  If you do…this book will be right up your ally.  You’ll love the practical insights it offers to women who have a strong urge to help other women in crisis…and it will resonate with your own heart of compassion.

Do you NOT have the gift of mercy?  (That would be me.)  Then you need a book like this to convict your spirit…and inspire a tender heart and desire to grow in kindness.

I Am My Sister’s Keeper: Reaching out to Wounded Women, by Denise George, is one of Christian Focus Publishing’s newest offerings this year geared toward women.

George organizes her book around the key things that women need most; things like…God’s truth, forgiveness, prayer, compassion, affirmation, practical help, love, and a faithful friend.  She explains some of the most common sufferings that women face in their lives such as loneliness, broken relationships, loss and grief, abuse and discouragement…and demonstrates how we can show the heart of Jesus Christ to our sisters by reaching out in with just the right application of truth and love.

For example, a woman who has suffered from spouse abuse is desperate for affirmation.  She will often feel worthless and purposeless.  The Christian sisters in her life can gather around her and offer acceptance, encouragement, meaning, and God’s vision for her life.  They can affirm the truth of God’s purposes for her and His deep love for her.

Adorning every chapter are examples of hurting women from the Word of God and the stories of how others reached out in compassion to help them heal.  There are also illustrations taken from our present day world along with the appropriate responses from merciful sisters who were willing to take the time and energy needed to show Christ’s love in constructive and helpful ways.

This book is one of two books that will be given away as part of September’s Resource Giveaway!  I believe it will be a useful tool that God can use to spread His love to those around us who are hurting.  You are automatically entered in our monthly drawing if you subscribe to Visionary Womanhood via e-mail!
