Before I even knew what a blog was, I decided to make homemade skin products one year for Christmas presents. A Christmas where we worried if our lights would stay on. I’ve always thought it was more fun to face a challenge with creativity rather than despair, so we decided to try to sell the products we had made for gifts.

We didn’t have a venue through which to advertise except friends and family, so when we heard about a “blog,” we felt that maybe the Lord was leading us to that. I am a writer and had so much I wanted to say, so it seemed like a perfect fit.

Five years later, I feel very humbled and blessed at the blessings along the journey of Generation Cedar. The Lord has used it profoundly in my life to grow, challenge, and change me.

I am thankful to the Lord for the way He has used the Internet to bless our family in so many ways. I love its ability to allow me to be a keeper at home, do what I love, share with other women on the journey, and help my husband with our family economy.

We have added other products to our store since then: a Scripture Songs CD, born out of a desire to help families more easily memorize Scripture, eight eBooks, hand-stamped note cards, and an audio version of our first “Living a Legacy” conference.

Up until a few years ago, I really had no clue what essential oils really were, how they worked or how to use them. Then I went through a time of major depression and a friend suggested I visit her ND {Naturopathic Doctor}. She used a few different things to help me through my depression – one of them being essential oils. Once I saw how effective the oils were at treating different ailments naturally, I wanted my friends and family to enjoy the same benefits. I’ll be honest, I’m NOT a sales person, so I don’t really spend a lot of time trying to “push” these on people. I just like to tell folks about them and what they’ve done for our family. And if they are interested, they can purchase them through me.
