Wow!! Excellent post! This is something that we have to deal with as well. Several of our extended family members have basically "shunned" us because we decided to go against the culture and follow God's Word. It all started with my mom deciding to be a stay at home mom (almost 19 years ago) and then with my parents deciding to homeschool my sister and me and it all just kind of went from zero to nothing overnight. It seems like homeschooling does that to people. Many if not all of our of our family members are not Christians, yet they believe they are just because they go to church every week. Whenever we talk about Christianity, God, etc. or when they see the books and movies that we have, they just completely make jokes and rude comments. We only have certain dealings with family because of my 91 year old grandfather and it is pretty much like a business relationship. Sadly none of their hearts are opened to different ways or the Lord. Thanks for sharing this. I will definitely be showing this post to my mom :) We often need encouragement with this sort of thing.

This is perfect timing... My parents and youngest sister will be here in a month. My mom is a believer, but I'm not sure if she's born again, and she says Dad believes, but also not born again and still very much in the world. As for my sister, I have no idea where she stands (I live in the FL Keys, she lives close to Canada in NY, about as far away as you can get!) but I know she hasn't been raised in a household that puts God first. I know, because I was raised there too. She just celebrated her 21st birthday, and I'm excited to see her for the first time in 3+ years, and excited to share my love of God with her. My prayer is that when they see what Jesus has done in my life and experience a Spirit-filled church that the conviction till follow them home. It would make my heart sing to see my parents and sister at the altar. I just pray God will give me the words and testimony they need to hear while they're here!

Great post! We had my MIL visiting this last weekend and she seems to have a case of the "yea but..." when it comes to talking about what the Bible says. We just kept quoting Scripture in love but only because of God did it not wear us out! I am currently finishing up "not a fan" by Kyle Idleman...fantastic read, which can answer some questions about "fans" of Jesus, rather than followers. I recommend it for everyone.
