Bi-Weekly WOW Links: Adversity, Boys and Moms, and Children’s Music

Ever wonder how to talk to children about the really horrible things that happen life?  Head over to Mom Life Today to read a wonderful, true story of how one family handled severe adversity.

I loved the post I read over In the Nursery of the Nation on What a Boy Needs From His Mother.  And when you are done reading it, if you’d like an idea for a great way to provide for that “need”…be sure to check out my recommendation HERE.

And finally, if you are looking for ways to help your children learn large portions of Scripture by osmosis, look no further than the wonderful music of Jamie Soles.  After reading about his music in a few different places, I finally broke down and bought our first album, Pure Words, which is Psalm 1-15 set to music.  WHAT a pick-me-upper in the morning!  I love to put it on when the kids are coming down for breakfast.  It puts all of us in a joyful mood…and reminds us of the Victorious and Powerful God we serve.

If you read Leah’s recent post, “Fearful or Purposeful“, you may be motivated to be filling  your mind with the Truth that, in spite of the nations “raging”, Christ is on His throne, triumphant, and currently reigning.  The words of Psalm 1-15 will remind you of these truths every day as you listen to them and memorize them.

Here are the words/lyrics to Psalm 2

Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot a vain thing
Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot a vain thing
The kings of the earth have set themselves
And the rulers speak together
against the Lord and His Messiah
Saying, “Let us break their bonds in pieces,
Move this Law from before our faces.”

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh,
The Lord Himself will scorn them
Then speak to them in His wrath
to frighten and to warn them
“I have set My King upon My holy hill of Zion” says the Lord
I will declare the decree, the Lord has said to me
“You are My Son, today I have begotten Thee”

Ask of Me and I will give You all of the nations, they’ll be Yours
I will give you all the ends of the earth
You shall break them with a rod of iron
Into little pieces like a vessel of earth

So be wise oh kings, you judges be instructed
Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling
Kiss the Son lest He be angry
And you perish in the way when His wrath is turned to flame
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him

Ask of Me and I will give You all of the nations, they’ll be Yours
I will give You all the ends of the earth
You shall break them with a rod of iron
Into little pieces like a vessel of earth
